Remedies for Ebola

The principal medicinal drink for preventing and relieving Ebola and other virulent infections is Ume Sho Kudzu or Ume Sho Bancha drink. One or more other special drinks, dishes, or external applications may also be beneficial depending on the individual's condition. These are in addition to the special dietary guidelines and recipes for Ebola.
For Neutralizing Infection, Reducing Fatigue, and Stopping Vomiting
Ume Sho Kudzu Drink
Ume refers to the umeboshi plum, a pickled plum native to Japan that is salted, dried, and aged for a year or more. Ume helps to alkalinize and strengthen the blood and boost natural immunity. Sho refers to shoyu or natural soy sauce. Kudzu (also known as kuzu) is the root of a strong plant that strengthens and regulates digestion. It is widely used in cooking as a thickener. Kudzu is digested easily and iabsorbed quickly by the intestines. Also kudzu helps reduce fever and alleviates acute intestinal troubles, including diarrhea caused by infection.
This drink is the major macrobiotic medicinal remedy for strengthening the immune function, neutralizing undesirable viruses and bacteria, and protecting against infection. Give 1 to 2 small cups (4 to 6 ounces) a day to prevent or relieve infectious conditions, including Ebola.
1 heaping teaspoon kudzu powder
2 tablespoons cold water
1/2 to 1 umeboshi
11/2 cups water
5 to 6 drops ginger
soy sauce (optional)
1. Dissolve the kudzu powder in 2 tablespoons of cold water (add the water a little at a time).
2. Crush the meat of 1/2 umeboshi.
Add 1 1/2 cups of water to these ingredientsand bring to a boil.
3. Add 5 to 6 drops of ginger juice (or some grated ginger or some ginger powder).
4. Boil the preparation gently until it is more or less transparent.
5. Add few drops soy sauce (optional), and boil the preparation a little longer. Serve immediately.
For Neutralizing Infection, Reducing Fatigue, and Stopping Vomiting
Ume-Sho-Bancha
This drink has a similar effect as Ume Sho Kudzu and strengthens the blood and immune system. It may be used when kudzu is unavailable and is beneficial for stomach troubles (nausea, lack of appetite), tiredness, anemia, weak blood, and weak digestion. If you don’t have bancha twig tea, you can use hot water.
1/2 to 1 umeboshi
several drops of soy sauce
1 cup bancha twig tea
1. Crush the meat of one umeboshi plum.
2. Add the soy sauce.
3. Add boiling bancha twig tea (1/2 to1cup,according to individual taste). You may also add several drops of ginger juice.
4. Stir well and drink.
To Soothe and Lower Fever
Kudzu Tea
This tea has been used for hundreds of years in Japan and the Far East to neutralize infection, calm and soothe, and protect against fatigue and tiredness. It may also be used in case of slight fever (not higher than 100°F), headaches, and infectious-based fever.
1 heaping teaspoon kudzu powder
1 cup water
pinch of sea salt or few drops of soy sauce
1. Dissolve kudzu powder in cold water (add the water a little at a time and stir well until all the kudzu powder is dissolved).
2. Heat the dissolved kudzu water on medium flame and bring to a boil by stirring.
3. Add several drops of soy sauce and simmer for a couple minutes. Drink hot.
To Strengthen the Blood
Umeboshi Tea
Umeboshi plums are used to neutralize acidity in the stomach, intestines, and alkalinize the blood.
1 umbeboshi
1 quart water
1. Boil the meat of the umeboshi for 1/2 hour in 1 quart of watr.
2 Strain and if necessary dilute with more water.
To Strengthen the Kidneys and Discharge the Virus
Aduki Bean Tea
Aduki (or azuki) are small red beans native to the Far East but now grown worldwide that are mineral rich and especially good for the kidneys, bladder, and reproductive functions. Aduki Bean Tea regulates kidney and urinary tract function as well as sooth bowel movements. This tea may be very helpful for strengthening these organs and functions and eliminating undesirable viruses and bacteria from the body.
1 cup aduki beans
1/2 - 1 inch strip dry kombu sea vegetable
4 cups water
1. Place ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
2. Cover, reduce flame and simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Strain and drink the tea hot.
To Relax and Satisfy Sweet Cravings
Sweet Vegetable Drink
This drink is soothing for the digestive system as well as balancing blood sugar levels. Its natural sweet taste also helps relax tensed muscles and alleviate mental stress. Make this drink 2 - 3 times per week. Each preparation will serves for two days. Take 1 or 2 cups a day in mid morning and/or mid afternoon. You can keep this drink for a couple days in the refrigerator. Always warm up to drink.
1/2 cup onions, finely sliced
1/2 cup carrots, finely sliced
1/2 cup round green cabbage, finely sliced
1/2 cup sweet winter squash, finely sliced
4 - 6 cups water
1. Finely chop all vegetables into small pieces
2. Place all the vegetables in a pot and add water.
3. Bring to a boil, then cover, and simmer for 20 - 25 minutes.
4. Strain the vegetables and discard them.
5. Drink the broth warm or hot.
To Relax and Facilitate Discharge
Dried Daikon and Shiitake tea
This tea relaxes the body and releases constriction in the liver, facilitating the elimination of excess sodium from the body, as well as excess stagnation and hardened deposits from the body.
1/2 cup dried, shredded daikon
1 dried shiitake mushroom (preferably Donko variety), soaked for 15 minutes and finely chopped
1 1/2 cups water
1 Place ingredients in a pot.
2. Bring to a boil.
3. Cover, reduce flame, and simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Strain out vegetables and drink warm or hot.
To Strengthen Natural Immunity
Kombu Tea
Kombu is a dark green, mineral-rich sea vegetable. (Kelp is a variety of kombu.) This tea strengthens the blood, bones, and immune function. Also it promotes calmness and clear thinking.
3-inch strip dried kombu
4 cups water
1. Place the kombu and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
2. Cover, reduce flame, and simmer for 15 minutes.
3. Strain out the kombu and drink hot.
To Facilitate Discharge and Eliminate Stagnation and Toxins
Carrot Daikon Drink
This tea helps to discharge excess in the body, including mucus and hard solidified fat deposits in and around internal organs. It also helps to reduce the internal dampness and heat that creates a fertile environment for infections. This drink is most suitable for those with coronary heart disease, stagnated livers, pancreas, and other active organs, and those who have eaten heavy animal food.
½ cup carrots, finely grated
½ cup daikon, finally grated
1 cup water
several drops of shoyu
1/3 sheet of nori
½ of a small umeboshi plum
1. Finely grate ½ cup each of carrots and daikon. Place in a saucepan.
2. Add 1 cup of water and bring to a gentle boil.
3. Simmer for about 3 minutes and add a few drops of shoyu toward the end.
4. Add 1/3 of a sheet of nori and ½ of a small umeboshi plum, cooked together with the grated vegetables.
5. Eat and drink the vegetables and the broth.
To Promote Better Breathing and Reduce Lung Congestion
Fresh Lotus Root Tea
Lotus root helps dissolves excess mucus in the respiratory system. Taking out the dampness in the lungs alleviates congestion in breathing that helps the body to recover more quickly.
1/2 cup juice squeezed from fresh lotus root
1/2 cup water
pinch of sea salt
1. To grate lotus root, wash it well and use a flat top grater to make juicy lotus root pulp.
2. Squeeze out the juice with your bare hands or a sheet of cheesecloth.
3. Place the lotus juice in a pot and add water and sea salt.
4. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
5. Reduce flame to low and simmer 2 -3 minutes.
6. Drink while hot.
To Treat Diarrhea, Stiffness, and Cramps
Roasted Salt Pack
This external application helps to relieve stiff muscles, diarrhea, and stomach cramps that may accompany sickness or infection.
1 - 2 packages salt
1 cotton pillowcase or cotton sack
1. Dry roast the salt in a skillet until it is very hot. (Do not smoke the salt.)
2. Place the hot salt in the pillowcase or sack.
3. Wrap sack in a thick cotton towel and apply to abdomen, pelvic area, or tight muscle.
4. Save salt. It may be used for reheating a couple times.
5. When the salt becomes grey from reuse, discard.
To Reduce High Fever
Tofu Chlorophyll Plaster
This cool application helps to draw out heat from inflammations and fevers. High fever is a hallmark of Ebola and other infectious conditions.
1 pound tofu
10 - 20% white flour
5% fresh grated ginger (optional)
several large green leaves (such as collards, kale)
1. Place tofu in a towel and place a weight on top to squeeze out the liquid.
2. Chop raw leaves very finely.
3. Mash green leaves in a suribachi and then add tofu and ginger mash together well
4. Mix in white flour until mixture becomes a thick paste.
5. Spread the paste on a cotton towel about ½-inch thick.
6. Apply directly to the skin.
7. Leave on 30 minutes to 1 hour and repeat if necessary several times until fever breaks or cools down.
To Relax and Strengthen Digestion
Apple Juice Kanten
Kanten is a gelatin like dish that cools off the body, soothes digestion, strengthens the intestines, and helps relieve constipation. It is made with agar agar, a type of seaweed that is widely used in traditional Far Eastern cooking, as well as the modern food industry, as a thickener or filler.
2 cups apple juice
1 cup water
3 tablespoons agar agar flakes
pinch sea salt
1 Place the ingredients in a saucepan.
2. Heat over a medium flame until agar flakes dissolve completely while stirring.
3. Pour mixture into a serving dish.
4. Allow to cool and gel.
5. You may cool in a refrigerator or serve at room temperature.
To Relax and Strengthen Digestion
Sweet Kudzu Drink
This drink is very soothing and its natural sweetness helps to relax the body, overcome stress, and promote better digestion, especially for tight conditions.
1 heaping tablespoon kudzu powder
1 cup water
1 tablespoon barley malt or brown rice syrup
1. Dissolve kudzu in a small amount of cold water.
2. Pour into a saucepan and add the remaining water.
3. Heat over a medium flame, stirring continuously.
4 When kudzu thickens, add sweetener and stir until the color becomes clear.
5. Drink while hot.
This drink can also be made with 1/2 cup of apple juice and 1/2 cup of water instead of adding sweetener.
To Reduce Fever and Cool the Body
Yu Dofu with Chinese Cabbage
This dish, made primarily with tofu and Chinese cabbage, is very cooling and will help bring down fever, reduce inflammation, and lower elevated body temperature that accompanies infection.
1 cup Chinese cabbage, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 dried shiitake mushroom
1 inch piece kombu sea vegetable
1/2 to 1 pound of tofu, chopped into bite-sized cubes.
1. Place 2 cups of water, shiitake, and kombu in a pot. (A nabe-clay pot is ideal.)
2. Bring to a boil, take out the shiitake, chop into small pieces, and place back in the pot.
3. Add tofu and Chinese cabbage, cover, and bring back to a boil.
4. Take out serving portion and place in a bowl.
5. Serve with dipping sauce and with chopped scallions as a garnish.
Dipping Sauce
Mix the flowing ingredients in a bowl.
2 teaspoons soy sauce
3 - 4 tablespoons cooking broth
1/4 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
